Finally, after much deliberation, FX has cancelled the series. The series have had a short span. ‘The Riches’ had just completed its two seasons, after which it has been called cancelled. The reason behind the cancellation of the series is its falling ratings. The series started in 2007, when it had a decent fan following. But, in the very next season the rating started falling and the season was even shortened down to seven episodes and it ended in April.

The series starred Oscar nominee Minnie Driver and comedian Eddie Izzard. The two were paired as a couple. They played the role of parents of a family of gypsies who move into a wealthy suburban Louisiana neighborhood under a new identity. Though, the series was not very well accepted, especially by the critics, but still people were interested in watching the series. And that was the main reason the channel took few months to come to the final decision.

Well, I am not very happy with the channels decision. I used to love the series and I have seen each and every episode of the series. I used to love the series for one basic reason that it was different from the rest and that it had some meaning to it. Plus I used to love watching Driver and Izzard. Together they both made a beautiful pair and their acting was commendable. I seriously think that FX should reconsider its decision of canceling the series. There are many more like me who love to watch ‘The Riches’.

Great news buddies! Wayne Malloy and Dahlia Malloy got nominated as the Best lead actor and the Best lead actress in the Emmy this year. Great man! Although, Eddie Izzard playing Wayne is already a two Emmy winner and I didn’t know that he is also the co-writer of ‘The Riches’. On the other hand Minnie Driver playing Dahlia Malloy was nominated once for Emmy and once for Academy award, but couldn’t win any. Hey, I am pretty hopeful for Eddie, as he has won Emmy twice and he is a great writer as well as a great stand up comedian.

At least, I am impressed by this multi talented man and my vote goes to him. You know, the character of Sam Malloy, the youngest son of Malloy couple, is based on Eddie’s real life as the stand up comedian. Eddie used to dress up like girl on stage to create humor and Sam’s character on ‘The Riches’ does the same thing.

Well, the couple looks cool on the show and I was amused to know that it is for the first time that an on screen couple from the same show has been nominated for Emmy for the best actor and best actress at the same time. Otherwise, hardly one character from a show is nominated. I can understand the reason; actually the couple is the strength of the show. Although the show is not very popular but still Wayne and Dahlia as a couple is everybody’s favorite. Eddie and Minnie both have solid roles in the show.

Eddie is at ones a confused and a cunning man. He himself decides to take the identities of dead rich couple to lead a normal life rather than nomadic life that they have been leading. He keeps struggling for doing so, as staying honest is not so easy. On the other hand, Minnie plays the role of drug addict woman who has just got out of jail. She acts it like real life character. I am very impressed by her acting in that show. She marks her presence felt in every episode and acts very naturally. I wish all the best to the couple for an Emmy for The Riches.
